- His parents were both born in Virginia
- His mother died when Abraham was only 10 years old
- He worked on a farm as a kid

- 1858- Lincoln ran against Stephen A. Douglas for senator
- 1860- Won Republican nomination for President
- January 1, 1863- he introduced the Emancipation Proclamation
- 1864- Won the re-election
- April 14, 1865- he was assassinate at Ford's Theatre
